For Constipation

  1. Drink Castor Oil- Soak 3-4 drops of castor oil in glass of water and drink it in the morning.

  2. Eat stool-softening fruits like Papaya, melon or mangoes daily.

  3. Eat more fibre foods, like raw carrots, apples, bran flakes.

  4. Avoid sugary food after lunchtime.

  5. Drink lots of water.

  6. Peppermint water helps Babies with Colic pains.

For Swelling after injury

If you get bruising under the skin because of injury, use ice cubes in cotton cloth/ small napkin and rub this Poultice on the swollen area.  Repeat after a while. You can also use cold pads available from a pharmacy to reduce pain and swelling.

For the Common Cold

  1. Drink turmeric milk- Add 1 teaspoon of turmeric in the milk and heat it in a Microwave for up for 30 seconds and drink lukewarm. Avoid drinking water afterwards. The ideal time to drink this milk is before you go to bed.

  2. If you get a sore throat, then try to gargle with salt water (luke-warm) twice a day and try not to drink water afterwards for an hour. This is really effective.

  3. Drink honey and lemon in luke-warm water anytime.

  4. If you drink tea, then use more ginger (powder or fresh) in it. Fresh ginger is very effective in controlling symptoms of a heavy Cold.

For Cuts

If you get any small cuts while chopping, or through a glass injury, then quickly apply turmeric powder on the cut; it will stop the bleeding and relieve the pain. If necessary tie a thin cotton bandage around the Turmeric dressing.  After a while you can wash off the turmeric application.

For ‘Gas’ or Bloated stomach

  1. Try to use ‘Hing’ (Asafoetida) as an ingredient in your cooking. Add a teaspoon of hing when cooking the foods that upset you.

  2. Standard ‘Mukhwas’ with ‘Suwa’ (dill seeds) helps reduce it; a half teaspoon of ‘Ajma’ (Ajmein) (ideally chew first) followed by half a cup of water helps indigestion.

  3. Drink camomile and peppermint tea.

  4. Try to avoid Cauliflower, lettuce or any other suspected food.
